5Does a nice job in cars.

Whynter Eco Pure Personal Air Purifier, Black (PAF-101-BL)

This works perfect for my car. I have a long commute to work and can't help but question the fumes I brief in twice a day 90 mins each way. It runs silent almost wondering if it works, but the air in my car smells clean for the first time in years. Btw, you need a 12v adaptor if you want to use it in the car. I just used a Medel 12V lighter adaptor which I had handy. Not that it smells like flowers and meadows, but it's the lack of smell that has me impressed.

I checked the filter after about a month and it was not a pretty sight. Maybe it's all in my mind, but I can honestly say I breathe better. It's not cheap, but I think it's worth the price if it does what it's supposed to. If you have a need for one, I would definitely recommend this.

3Not impressed

While you get a lot of bang for your buck in terms of the filtration, this is the most worthless air purifier I have ever owned.

Instead of having an AC centrifugal blower as your typical air purifier does, this has (2) brushless DC motors, similar to what is used in your computer. The amount of air these fans move is negligible. On high, they move 26.5 cfm combined.

The power cord input is placed awkwardly on the left side. The retaining clips on the top cover are weak, and I would imagine they will break if the cover is removed often.

When it is running, it is almost silent, even on high.

I have given it 3 stars because it does exactly what is stated. It has cheap build quality, does not move a sufficient volume of air, and is overall a poorly designed product for the $80+ price tag.

Also be aware, the fitters need to be changed every 2000 hours (hepa and charcoal), and the photo-catalyst filter every 4500 hours, an d the UV light every 3-5 years. Assume it will cost about as much as the entire assembly to replace the filters every 4000 hours.

I have returned my filter due to its insufficient filtering capacity and purchased a different filter.
